Bell Choir & Adult Choir
Both choirs are to the music ministry here at LCHS and that everyone is encouraged to this year. No audition is necessary. If you can count you can ring in the bell choir, which meets from 6 to 7 PM every Thursday beginning Sept. 2 and
performs once a month. Our adult choir rehearses from 7 to 8:30 PM every Thursday. All are welcome!
2010-2011 Theater and Theology Season
All of the plays are on Tuesday evenings at 6:30 followed by a talk back featuring cast members and production people from the play, usually hosted by Pastor Dan Bollman from the Synod Office. There is one exception, and that is A Christmas Carol which is a Saturday matinee in December, and there will be no talk back for that performance. The price for all the plays is $30 for each performance. I’m listing the first few plays.
Performance date is September 21 for 39 Steps. Reservations and checks are due to me by September 7.
Performance date is October 5 for The House of Spirits. Reservations and checks are due to me by September 14.
Performance date is October 26 for Dracula. Reservations and checks are due to me by October 5.
Please contact me if you have questions.

Craft Fair at LCHS? LCHS is planning on hosting a craft fair on November 13, 2010, from 10:00 to 3:00. Do you knit, or make great jelly? Quilt beautiful blankets, make jewelry, or birdhouses? Would you like to try and sell what you get so much enjoyment from making? Booth registration applications will be available in the church narthex or online at the website. The application is also attached here. All rules and regulations are included in the application. Booth space will be $10 for the space and includes 2 chairs. If you need a table we have 6 footers for a $10 rental fee. Please see application for further clarification. Sign up soon as spaces are sure to go quickly!
Even if you aren't crafty put the date on calendar to come and start or finish your Christmas shopping! You can find all kinds of great, one of a kind items to add to stockings or for that "hard to buy for" great aunt or even teacher gifts!
Any questions can be directed to Launa Cable-Hick or Ruth Ryll.

What? Project Glean is an annual program whereby COMPA, in partnership with regional farmers and community volunteers, harvests nutritious produce to provide for those in need.
Who? COMPA currently has partnerships with four Colorado farmers: Domenico Farms of Denver, Grant Family Farms of Wellington, and Petrocco Farms and Sakata Farms of Brighton.
Where? Project Glean provides COMPA with fields located from north Denver to the Brighton vicinity, and as far north as Wellington, Colorado. The field location for each event is not known until the week of the event.
When? Project Glean takes place during the harvest season, in the months of September and October. Every (non-holiday) Saturday, dependent on weather and harvest conditions, COMPA organizes volunteer groups to glean, typically in the morning and early afternoon hours for 2 to 4 hours.
How? On the scheduled glean day, volunteers meet at the COMPA warehouse at 7:30 am for orientation and instructions, then follow written directions to the glean site. COMPA staff direct the gleaning activity, with volunteers harvesting produce from the fields and loading the trucks. COMPA drivers then return the produce to the warehouse where it is weighed and stored for sorting and distribution, usually beginning the following week. All ages of volunteers are allowed to participate, with families encouraged to use the opportunity to teach the meaning of service to their children. Because of the weather and field conditions, volunteers are encouraged to bring water, mosquito repellent, snacks, lunch, sun screen, gloves, long pants, hat, sun glasses, shoes appropriate for fields, and whatever else you feel is needed. Actual work may involve anything from picking peppers from the plant to cutting cabbage to loading up to 50 pound boxes. Volunteers may work as long as they like. Typically, gleaning wraps up no later than 2:00 pm.
Why? Over one thousand volunteers participate in Project Glean each year, providing hundreds of thousands of pounds of nutritious produce for COMPA food pantries and neighborhood agencies. These 150 COMPA agencies then distribute this food to more than 70,000 individuals in need in our communities.
The SE Metro CO Chapter of Thrivent Financial for Lutherans is happy to sponsor our 2nd annual Family Night Out, September 17th at the Wildlife Experience. Last year we enjoyed the animated movie CARS; this year we are showing the original animated feature SHREK. As was the case last year, each complementary ticket is good towards $1.00 at the concession stand the night of the movie.
The ticket is good for admission to the movie only, and will not be honored for admission to any other Wildlife Experience activity or event.
Please see Pastor Christian or Kathy in the office for tickets.

DO YOU HAVE HOLY SPIRIT MEMORIES?
As part of the 50th Anniversary celebrations, the Holy Spirit scrapbooks will be updated. If you have any
pictures, bulletins, newsletters, fliers, handouts or other such memorabilia that you would like to offer for
Inclusion in our Holy Spirit scrapbook, please put the items in the large container marked Scrapbook/Memorabilia located in the Narthex. You will find the container on the table in the corner where the framed Charter Member list and the “heart quilt” are located
The container will be available as of Sunday, August 29 and will remain in place until October 1, 2010. This should give you ample time to locate and donate your memorabilia.
Please assist with the identification process by including the following: names of persons in the photo, event that is pictured and the date of the event.
If you have any discs with pictures and/or articles, please print the photos and/or items prior to submitting. Doing that part of the process will assist greatly in the gathering of memorabilia from the last 11 years.
At the present time the scrapbooks from the 1960’s-1999 are being updated and they will be available as the process is completed.
Again:
The Scrapbook/Memorabilia container will be available as of Sunday, August 29 and will remain in place until October 1, 2010.
